Water Monitoring Along Spa Creek, Annapolis

Water Monitoring  Continues for the 2017 Season!

In May of 2016, the Chesapeake BaySavers partnered with the Spa Creek Conservancy to begin a water monitoring initiative along different areas of Annapolis’ Spa Creek! We began this initiative in order to determine if the water is safe to swim in, and if it is not, find the reasoning behind it and how we can improve it.

Our test sites start at the headwaters and end in the mouth of the Creek in order to get a wide spread of data throughout the entire Creek! Our test sites are: The headwaters, the foot bridge at the end of South Cherry Grove, The Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Hawkins Cove, Capital SUP and Ego Ally. We test water temperature, salinity, conductivity, secchi depth, dissolved oxygen, pH, total suspended solids, chlorophyll A, nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as enterococci.
